Dr. Zaid Alrawi and his family moved to State College in 2010. Since then, they have been active members of The Islamic Society of Central Pennsylvania and the bigger society of State College. With the warm welcoming and kindness shown by the Islamic community in State College, the Alrawi family became committed to giving back and serving the community.
Dr. Alrawi has lived most of his life in the city of Baghdad, in Iraq. He earned his B.A degree from the University of Baghdad, Department of Archaeology. Then, he moved to the States and earned his M.A. degree from the Department of Anthropology at Stony Brook University, in the state of New York. He is also an alumnus of Penn State, where he earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Anthropology, specializing in Mesopotamian archaeology.
Dr. Alrawi has been elected by the Muslim community of State College to serve as Vice President for the community. He has expressed his gratitude to his fellow Muslims for putting their trust in him and he is eager to serve his community to the best of his ability.
